An overdue Happy New Year to one and all. I wish you all the very best health, wealth and happiness for 2012.

The Fit Option starts the New Year with a change in home as I invite you to come across to my other website Barefoot and Raw where most of the action is taking place nowadays.

For now The Fit Option will nuzzle its way in over there and find a nice cosy spot in which to fit into.

So, come across to www.barefootandraw.co.uk and lets make 2012 a truly great year.

Our Countdown to Christmas is almost over and we are now only two nights away from the big day.

I hope that all your preparations are nearly complete and you can now take the time to sit back and enjoy being surrounded by family and friends this festive season.

Being thankful for the ones we love at this time of the year is what Christmas is all about for me. That we have people in our lives who we love and cherish certainly gives me a feeling of goodwill and joy to all.

So, to you and yours this Christmas ‘May you have all that you wish for and be surrounded by lots of love and may the New Year be filled with love, light and many blessings’ :)

Happy Christmas…..

Ok, so those observation ones amongst you will have noticed that my ‘Countdown to Christmas’ has gone a little awry with its numbers…..we have gone from number 9 to number 16…….hmmmmm…..

The reason being that my countdown was going the wrong way and instead of the numbers decreasing down to Christmas they were in fact increasing up to Christmas.

Well I blame it on my blondness (hehe) but rest assured I have rectified the situation and from now on we will be counting DOWN to the big day.

Which brings me nicely to the topic of conversation today. The dreaded scales.

Some of us can be ruled by the bloomin’ things jumping on and off them like a rat up the ships rigging!

I know that they have featured way too much in my life in the past and at this time of the year with food in abundance and Christmas joy in the air they can take over and cause us something of an obsession.

My advice – THROW THEM AWAY……. ditch them, bin them, trash them because you don’t need them. Lets start the New Year scaleless and worry less about the pounds decreasing and more about how we are feeling, how our clothes feel, what we look like when we look at ourselves in the mirror because at the end of the day if we want to learn to love ourselves then we have to be able to look at ourselves.

Love and acceptance of ourselves will come from within and not from the dials on a set of scales.

So, go ahead right now and fetch your scales and then throw them away.

Done, job sorted…..now you can get on with enjoying yourself :)

See ya tomorrow……

Time for a little festive cheer today and a sing song of one of my favourite Christmas carols……enjoy :)

Its day 8 of my countdown to Christmas and today I want to have a bit of fun and see what your Christmas traditions are.

Christmas means different things at different stages in our lives. When we are small Christmas is all wrapped up in the wonder of the nativity, sparkling decorations and of course the excitement of Father Christmas coming to visit.

Then when we get older and have families of our own our excitement comes from watching it through their eyes.

For me Christmas has always been a time for family however big or small that may be. It is a time to take a moment to appreciate the good things I have in my life and be thankful for them.

So, in the midst of all your celebrations this Christmas don’t forget to take a moment to be grateful for what you have and for where you are on this great journey of yours through life.

Countdown to Christmas day 7…… getting closer!!

So, today I’m going to talk about keeping a food/emotion journal between now and Christmas.

If you subscribe to my newsletter then you will have received my 5 day mini mentor programme. If you haven’t then fill in the sign up box to the right here to take advantage of my offer.

In this mini programme I talk about the benefits of keeping a journal relating to your food cravings and the emotions attached to them. This is a really good way of identifying what your food triggers are.

The festive season can me a really emotive time for some people and so keeping a food/emotion journal over the next few weeks can be invaluable in helping you recognise what your ‘weak’ areas are and how you can build upon them and make them stronger.

All you need do is find a notebook and write two columns in it. In the first column write down the foods that you feel you are craving and have little control over eating. When you get these cravings take a few quiet moments to yourself and see if you can identify the underlying emotion that comes with these cravings. They may also remind you of a particular time or event. Write it all down and pretty soon you will seeĀ  a pattern begin to emerge.

Then you can ask yourself what other ways would better serve you and these emotions other than giving into the cravings and eating what you don’t really need?

Email me if you require any help with this.

Happy journaling and see you tomorrow….

Christmas equals chocolate and it wouldn’t be fair of me to make you feel guilty for indulging in a little of what the Mayans called the ‘food of the gods’.

But if I have any advice for you it would be to treat yourself to some really good dark chocolate.

Or better still go and visit The Raw Chocolate Shop which has a big variety of raw chocolate that is made without any heat processing so all the goodness of the chocolate is retained. It is also delicious (and you can take that from my own first hand experience :) )

SO, get yourselve’s down to a good chocolate shop and buy some lovely rich and dark chocolate to tempt your chocolaty taste buds with safe in the knowledge that good quality dark choccy is good for you.

Happy Christmas…….. :)

Day 5 of our countdown to Christmas and today is all about how to manifest your perfect Christmas yet.

I’m a big believer in positive thought and manifesting what we want from life and so I’d like you to give it a try over the festive season.

Grap a pen and paper (I’m all about the lists as well :) ) and write down how you imagine your perfect Christmas will look.

Keep it realistic; I know we would all want Brad Pitt in our stocking but the likelihood of that happening is pretty slim, unless it’s a DVD of course.

Stick to what you know you can achieve if you set your intention on it and include things like what food you would like, how you want the day itself to be, what you want to wear, etc, etc.

Then keep it somewhere prominent and look at it everyday imagining each detail as you read them.

Of course this is something that you can use all year round to manifest what you want from your life, its not just for Christmas!!

Have fun and see you tomorrow……

Welcome to day 4 of my countdown to Christmas.

Today I want to talk to you about the importance of support.

Having people understand and support the healthier approach to Christmas that you are trying to adopt is essential.

There is nothing like a spot of peer pressure to have you running to the nearest box of chocolates.

Don’t do it. Instead ask your friends and family if they will support you in your efforts to stay healthy over the festive season. Explain to them the benefits that you will experience if you do so and if you want to and they are willing then ask them to join you.

If you do this then people are less likely to try and tempt you over to their side of the table!!

Hope you are having a great weekend…..more tomorrow..

Day 3 of my countdown to Christmas and the biggest tip that I can give you to get through the festive season unscathed is to PLAN, PLAN, PLAN.

December can be a non stop month of entertaining and socialising. Office parties, dinner parties, nights out with friends and that’s before you have even made it too Christmas week.

It’s easy then to just think ‘I’ll start the diet in the New Year’. The thing with diets is that there will always be an excuse to postpone them so lets not use that approach this year.

I promise you that you will feel better for it.

So, have a PLAN. Know when you will be out, if it involves eating, if so what sort of food. Is it an event that you can take something to – most hosts and hostesses would be more than happy for you to take a dish with you that you can share.

If you are going for a meal in a restaurant then have either a starter or a dessert and not both. Eat a lighter lunch that day and maybe do some extra exercise to even things out.

Planning means you can keep control but still enjoy yourself. At the end of the day none of the fun of Christmas is really about the food you are eating but about the people you are with. The friends and family that you are spending precious time with.

Have fun planning out your Christmas entertainment and see you tomorrow.
