More madness from UK researchers. See here for full article but the basic gist of it is the ‘consideration’ that fast food outlets hand out a statin pill with each meal that they serve. You know, you get your serviette, and your ketchup and now you get your medication as well.
Are they serious…….am I the only person that thinks this is an absolutely crazy idea…….surely not. If we are saying that junk food shouldn’t be eaten without medication to counter its effects then why oh why are we allowing it to be served at all. Why are we not yelling it from the rooftops that this is not food. It doesn’t nourish us, it does the absolute opposite and actually harms us.
What pains me is the money that they spend doing research such as this when that money could be better spent going into educating people on what constitutes a healthy diet.
And don’t even get me started on statins and the effects of their long term use. See the articles below highlighting just a few of the concerns on the long term use of this drug.

In the original article it states that statins are deemed to be ‘fairly safe’. Now to me using the phrase ‘fairly safe’ to describe a drug that will in theory be being issued to whoever, wherever and whenever – i.e with no control is not something that fills me with a great deal of confidence. I mean if someone gave you the opportunity to parachute out a plane deeming it to be ‘fairly safe’ wouldn’t you think twice about it??
It saddens me that all common sense seems to have long since left the food arena. Eating foods that pose a negative risk to your health and then attempting to neutralise that risk by taking medications that have serious long term effects just doesn’t add up to me.
We need to get real here. Handing out pills like smarties is not the answer. Eating healthily and exercising regulaly – well now you are getting there.

I have heard the term ‘orthorexia nervosa’ several times but never really took much notice of it before. However, it has been appearing on several forums lately and so I thought I would research it a little and see what it was all about.
We talk about ‘emotional eating’ all the time and ‘cravings’ but what exactly do we mean by this and more importantly what is the mind trying to get when it triggers us to eat in response to an emotion.
This is the latest incentive to be thrown around by the NHS, apparently its being trialed in Kent as we speak. Yep, the new way to get people to lose weight is to pay them – see full article
The Fit Option Forum has sprung into life over the last 24 hours. I originally set it up at the back end of last year but didn’t really do much with it at the time. Developments over the last few days have seen me invite another ‘raw food’ forum across to join with The Fit Option as they were going to shut down otherwise so now the Fit Option is seeing a flurry of activity and I am busy getting organised and making sure there is something interesting there for people to view when they come and join in.
We are finalising details of our summer challenge as we speak and you can find out more about it by going to the link
We have just had what is hopefully the first of many weekends of glorious sunshine and although it is overcast and colder today the promise of a lovely hot summer has been set in our minds…….
Wouldn’t the world be a better place and wouldn’t our relationships with each other be so much nicer if we were just a little more tolerant of each other??
When I was younger there used to be a programme on TV called ‘The Record Breakers’. It was presented by Roy Castle and he used to sing the theme tune which had the line ‘Dedication’s what you need….if you want to be a record breaker’
